Wingtech Rallies as China Eases Export Restrictions in Nexperia Dispute
Wingtech shares surged 6% following signals from Beijing that it WOULD ease export restrictions on chips produced at Nexperia's Chinese facility. The move comes after a 9.7% late spike on Friday, as tensions between China and the Netherlands showed signs of thawing.
The dispute began when the Dutch government seized control of Nexperia on September 30, citing national security concerns. China retaliated by blocking exports of certain components, sparking fears among automakers reliant on these chips.
China's Commerce Ministry announced Sunday it would allow shipments of some Nexperia-made chips while calling on the EU to pressure the Netherlands to lift restrictions. "The situation must MOVE toward resolution," the ministry stated, emphasizing the need for stable supply chains.
Beijing has agreed to host Dutch officials for further talks, demanding "constructive solutions" and "concrete actions" to resolve the standoff. The development follows Dutch Economic Affairs Minister Vincent Karremans' assurance that Nexperia chips would reach European customers within days.
